Seed Supply

We offer high-quality, heirloom seeds with a special focus on culturally significant and ecologically important varieties. Our approach goes beyond selling individual seed packs. Instead, we curate thoughtful combinations—gardens, guilds, trios, companion pairs, and custom gardens—designed to grow together naturally. Our philosophy is that food should grow in harmony with nature and in ways that are accessible, low-maintenance, and deeply rewarding. This is achieved through biodiversity and respect for ancestral knowledge.

Many of the seeds we offer are grown by us, and we’re working steadily toward producing 100% of our inventory. Every seed is open-pollinated and heirloom. Many of our championed varieties hold deep significance to the original peoples of Turtle Island. We believe in the power of diversity, not just for resilience but for joy, flavor, and cultural memory. That’s why we offer discounted pricing on larger, more diverse groupings—to help people embrace this style of growing, which nourishes both people and the land that feeds them.

Here to Help You Grow

We serve growers across the contiguous United States, and while we don’t have a physical storefront, we are active in our local community and gardens near our headquarters. Customer service is a core part of our work. We don’t accept returns, but we’re deeply committed to support, offering guidance, resources, and our best effort to make sure you succeed. You’re not just buying seeds. You are growing something meaningful.

Our packaging is heat-sealed foil for freshness, with a writable paper exterior and a resealable inner lock, perfect for saving your future homegrown seeds and taking notes along the way. We believe in the power of seed saving to build resilience, preserve cultural varieties, and pass abundance forward. Every seed has a story, and we are here to help you continue it.

Diversity in the Garden Starts with You

Whether you’re an experienced grower, getting into it for the first time, or simply someone who sees the value in holding seeds, we are here for you. You might be planting acres, or inches, so we offer customizable options and gladly build custom garden collections. If our pre-made sets don’t quite fit your vision, try the custom combination. Want a different amount of varieties customized to your needs? Just send us an email and we’ll work with you directly (even our custom gardens come with a discount to show our appreciation of the method).

Give the Gift of Growing

Looking for a meaningful, lasting gift? Our seed collections make thoughtful presents for birthdays, holidays, teacher appreciation, new homes, and any occasion worth celebrating. You can include a personalized gift note with any order—just leave your message at checkout.

Discounted and Tax Exempt Orders

We welcome orders on behalf of schools, community gardens, Tribal organizations, nonprofits, and educational programs of all kinds. Whether you're inspiring a classroom, supporting a local initiative, uplifting an Indigenous food sovereignty project, or planting a future together, we’re honored to be part of the moment.

Sowing Sovereignty and Stewardship

Dog Drum Seed Supply is more than a store—it is a mission. Food sovereignty and responsible, regenerative land stewardship are the goals. We recognize how many people struggle with access to fresh, healthy food, and things that many take for granted. The awareness of the true value in growing your own food needs a resurgence. The misconception of the inherent difficulty that has been perpetuated is an unnecessary barrier. Through connection, education, and the spreading of seeds, we all have the ability to achieve food sovereignty as communities and individuals. We donate seeds to local community gardens and partner with those creating new spaces to grow. The goal is always to help the grower achieve everything they need to operate independently, contribute to the community, and be an example for the future.

Responsible land stewardship means caring for the Earth in ways that improve it—not just use it. It’s about working with nature to restore balance, protect biodiversity, and leave the land healthier for future generations. At Dog Drum Seed Supply, stewardship is a guiding principle rooted in traditional knowledge and regenerative practices. We support growers in building low-intervention systems that honor the relationship between people, plants, and place. Stewardship is about responsibility, reciprocity, and respect.

We operate ethically, sustainably, and with care. If it isn’t sustainable and ethical it does not have a place in the future we seed today.

A Life Rooted in Plants and People

Hello, my name is Sam England, and I am the person who planted this seed. I’ve been surrounded by plants my entire life and come from a family of botanists and farmers. I live inspired by people from all over the world and have researched the growing methods of countless cultures across all continents. I should add that I have also learned much from living beings that are not people, because if you are paying attention to the natural world, you will witness many behaviors and the results.

I’ve worked as a field laborer, fruit picker, pruner, and planter, putting hundreds of trees in the ground with my own hands. I have studied and practiced Natural Farming traditions from Japan, Korea, Punjab, Indonesia, Thailand, Africa, many distinct island cultures, and the Americas—each rich with wisdom and local resourcefulness. My approach is rooted in Permaculture Design and Integrated Pest Management, guided by a commitment to sustainable, resilient systems. I’m a barefoot Floridian who saves seeds, tends gardens, and stands up for the rights of people, animals, and the land we share.

The way I think about growing, community, and reciprocity with the Earth is not far from my Cherokee heritage. I’m also deeply influenced by popular thinkers and doers like Masanobu Fukuoka, Ruth Stout, Dr. Elaine Ingham, Rahibai Soma Popere, and countless everyday growers sharing their experiments and triumphs in person and online. My key take-away from every brilliant mind that spends time with the plant world…pay attention.

Thank You for Growing With Us

If you found your way here, thank you. We hope you’ll share what we’re doing with your plant people and help spread the word. Growing food can be easier, more meaningful, and more beautiful than most people imagine. That’s what we’re here to show.

It is time to plant the seeds of our future,
and grow outside of our existing context.
